Questions About CBD and Vediol
Does CBD work in cats?
All mammals have an endocannabinoid system. So, there’s reason to believe CBD does indeed work in cats. While no causal link has been established, abundant research would suggest non-human patients may benefit from receiving hemp derived CBD in support of their endocannabinoid system.
Vediol makes no label claims about use of its products
.
Can Vediol be used in young pets needing assistance to remain calm during training exercises, and for animals in general with storm phobias?
Though anecdotal evidence suggests various medical benefits may be realized from CBD usage in humans and animals, no casual links have been definitively established.
Vediol makes no medical claims from use of its products.
How is Vediol dosed?
A dosage chart is available on our website with all necessary dosage information for
dogs
and
cats
by body weight, and... how long each 2 oz bottle of Vediol should last per chosen dosage regimen.
What about label claims?
CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. While no causal link has been established, abundant research would suggest non-human patients may benefit from receiving hemp derived CBD in support of their endocannabinoid system.
Vediol makes no label claims about use of its products
.
Vediol is not a drug, therefore we must remain relatively label neutral (with an FDA disclaimer on the label). This is because the FDA prohibits the presence of label claims to
"diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease"
on any product that has not undergone FDA validation as a drug. There are currently over 23,000 published articles on the internet referencing cannabis/hemp studies.
Does Vediol contain THC?
Vediol is certified by laboratory analytics to contain zero percent THC. We use hemp as our source material, which unlike marijuana must necessarily contain less than 0.3% THC. It is non-psychoactive, and does not produce a "high" of any kind. Our manufacturing process employs a proprietary high-pressure, low temperature, charcoal filtering process to ensure removal of all THC.
Vediol product efficacy versus other CBD products?
A 2014, 2015 and 2016 FDA CBD Product Consortium study found that upwards of 80% of CBD products on the market had very little to no actual CBD in their formulation. It is important therefore to work with companies capable of validating CBD content, and whom also have the ability to validate the lack of presence of unwanted contaminants. This is because source, extraction methods, and blend matter when it comes to product integrity. Vediol utilizes proven sources, employs a novel proprietary extraction methodology to prevent damage to phytonutrients, plus a sophisticated blend for enhanced overall "Entourage" effects. And, Vediol also employs significant CBD science in its formulation to further enhance oral bioavailability and thus, effectiveness. Science that is backed by multiple patents and patent pending technologies.
Where is Vediol produced, extracted?
Vediol is produced in the USA. Our material is derived from lawfully cultivated industrial hemp, and is 100% legal.
What are your manufacturing and quality assurance protocols?
Every harvest and resulting batch is tested per HPLC/GC
(high pressure liquid chromatography and gas chromatography)
quality control standards.
Do you have experience with other neutraceuticals?
Yes, our formulator has an extensive background, holding numerous world-wide patents in production of various neutraceuticals.
How is Vediol hemp oil harvested/extracted?
We utilize a novel proprietary
subcritical
cold pressed technology to insure integrity of extracted phytonutrients. Other extraction methodologies, though cheaper, do exist but damage phytonutrients as temperatures rise above 115° F.
Is Vediol a "full spectrum" product?
Vediol is a whole plant blend of botanical extracts, derived from lawfully cultivated industrial hemp (not hemp seed oil as in cheaper products – which is 100% benign). More technically, Vediol is a "broad spectrum" blended product
(i.e., a full spectrum blend that has had THC removed)
. Constituents are on the label in the product facts box. The product also includes olive oil extract, sunflower lecithin, all natural flavoring from naturally occurring vegetables and fruits, and Taurinol a patent-pending taurine ester. In total, we have three patents and four patent pending technologies supporting dynamic oral absorption, approximating that of, sublingual and/or inhalation routes of delivery; something few (if any) others in the industry can claim.
Is CBD the only cannabinoid in Vediol?
What is for certain is that Vediol is 100% THC free. It is non-psychoactive, and does not produce a "high" of any kind. Interestingly, since beta-Caryophyllene and Caryophyllene oxide are the only known terpenes of cannabis capable of binding with cannabinoid receptors, this begs the question, “are these terpenes, cannabinoids, or both?” Hmmm?
What is the most abundant terpene in cannabis?
Myrcene @ approximately 65%. And that's a problem for many
"Full Spectrum"
products on the market because beta-Myrcene (
Myrcene
) is a California Prop 65 banned substance due to its carcinogenic potential. If it's present, which is likely, it's a problem in California.
Vediol contains no beta-Myrcene.
Where does CBD Oil come from?
Cannabinoids are mainly produced on the female cannabis flowers. In the so-called trichomes on the surface of female cannabis flowers. These trichomes are also called resin and contain about 95% of all cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. Which means that CBD also comes dominantly from the flowers of the female cannabis plant. It is wrongly assumed that the seeds of the cannabis plant also contain cannabinoids of any significant value. This is not correct. Seeds contain no cannabinoids in concentrations of any significant value. Therefore, it is not possible to extract (produce) CBD Oil from the seeds of the plant. The roots of the cannabis plant also contain virtually no cannabinoids, so that even the roots are no source for CBD and the production of CBD Oil. The stem and branches of the cannabis plant contain more cannabinoids than the seeds and the roots. However, even here cannabinoids are sparse and so the stem and branches are therefore not an ideal source for production of CBD extracts.
How long have you been conducting CBD manufacturing?
CBD production for formulators in the USA up until December 30, 2018 had been technically considered illegal on the Federal level. Our formulator however has been working with and involved with phytonutrient research and production, and CBD research and blends internationally; and holds numerous patents and patents pending on cannabis extractions, improvements, uses, and delivery mechanisms for an extensive period of time.
Is Vediol sold or available directly to consumers, and/or in pet stores?
Yes
Have there been studies done with CBD in dogs?
Until recently, certain legal hurdles had made extensive study into the efficacy of potential applications of all types of cannabis very limited. CBD from hemp is now legal (
as of December 30, 2018
). CBD from marijuana however remains illegal on the Federal level.
What happens if a client forgets to give the product daily?
Nothing, other than potentially not realizing potential benefit during the duration of missed doses.
What happens if client administers too high a dose?
Nothing – there are no worries of overdosing (other than wasting one’s money). This is of course excepting allergies the rare pet may have to certain constituent ingredients.
What is the expiration period for Vediol?
The oils and extracts are stable for at least 36 months when sealed and kept out of extreme heat. But, like any oils, they will oxidize over time. Once a bottle is opened, refrigeration will extend the shelf life. Therefore, we recommend refrigeration after opening. Vediol lots are stamped with a 3-year expiration date from date of manufacture.
Are there instances where Vediol/CBD should not be used?
None known at the present time (in human or veterinary medicine). However, we believe that decisions about your pet's health are best made in concert with the advice of your consulting veterinarian.
Is the product formulated from mature cannabis stalks and seeds?
No. Seeds offer no therapeutic value, nor does hemp seed oil. Adult stems/stalks and harvested flowers yield the required therapeutic materials that go into our Vediol blend.
Can Vediol be taken with veterinary medications?
CBD (no matter the product/source) is metabolized in the liver through the Cytochrome P450 pathway, therefore
potential
drug-drug interactions are
possible
due to uptake of CBD altering drug metabolism of other drugs. However, in dogs and cats this has not been found to be presently considered an issue of significance.
What is the difference between active and acid forms of cannabinoids?
In a juvenile or growing plant, the two major cannabinoids exist almost entirely in the acid form and are known as THCA and CBDA or “THC-acid” and “CBD-acid.” When these acidic cannabinoids are heated, a chemical reaction takes place called “decarboxylation,” also known as “activation.” As a result of heating, the cannabinoids lose the carboxyl group, changing form to become THC and CBD. The same reaction/conversion (redox) occurs when the acidic analogs are exposed to high levels of oxygen. The acidic form of THC is non-psychoactive. That’s why chewing raw cannabis doesn’t result in getting high until the material is “smoked” or cooked (typically for 60-90 minutes @ 212° F).
How long or how many doses will a client need to administer of Vediol until effects are realized?
The effects of CBD can vary from pet to pet. The endocannabinoid system is highly personalized. For dogs, we recommend starting with an initial dose of: three (3) drops per ten (10) pounds of body weight twice daily. It may take multiple doses over an initial 24-48 hour period before some animals begin to realize effects. Others will experience effects more quickly. If the initial starting dose seems insufficient, It is reasonable to increase the dose as may be needed to provide effect. Vediol can be administered up to four (4) times daily, at a dose of up to four (4) drops per ten (10) pounds of body weight. There are no reports of a human or non-human animal overdosing on CBD. Cats are dosed at 1-2 drops, two to four times daily.
What does all natural flavor mean?
The all natural flavoring in Vediol is made from all natural sources. There are no animal proteins or allergenic sources in Vediol. The all natural flavor is replicated from vegetables, fruits, and other natural compounds.
Vediol is safe to give to dogs and cats with meat allergies.
Some say coconut oil is the best carrier for CBD products. Is this true?
Not true. Many use MCT (medium chain triglycerides) because they are easy for the body to assimilate. But there are three issues here: (1) if you use a CBD isolate and MCT, then by using a CBD isolate you are violating Federal law (FDA), plus you also have no Entourage Effect, (2) if you use coconut oil (cocamide diethanolaminge) it is a California Prop 65 ingredient known to cause cancer, and (3) MCT’s are comprised of triglycerides with 2 or 3 fatty acids (medium chain fatty acids - MCFA). MCT’s diffuse from the GI tract to the portal system. In doing so they are exposed to First Pass Effects of the liver and active material loss.
Through a proprietary technology, Vediol utilizes MCFA and LCFA to insure the First Pass Effect is side-stepped and absorption is controlled by the lymphatic system.
What about products that use other carrier oils like hemp oil, salmon oil, and grape seed oil?
The use of unrelated vegetable and fruit oils negates the possibility of any “Entourage Effect,” and again would require the use of a CBD isolate which is Federally illegal.
What’s the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil?
Hemp oil is a phrase possibly in misuse. There are no commercial sources of “hemp oil.” The common commercial oil from the hemp seed is “hemp seed oil.” This is an oil commonly cold pressed from hemp seeds for nutritional use. It has no genuine cannabinoid value. “CBD” oil is an oil pressed from the adult hemp plant aerial parts. Only mature plants produce cannabinoids of any significant levels. “CBD oil” would therefore be extracted from CBD rich strains of cannabis, etc.
Is Vediol gluten free?
Vediol is gluten free, and it is also GMO free (genetically modified organism free).
